Northwest Demolition was contracted to demolish a research test plant in Coalstrip, Montana.  The 90-foot tall steel facility was designed to test the properties of a highly enhanced, explosive coal product that was combustible at room temperature.  Due to the volatility of this product, additional safety precautions were implemented to mitigate the risk of unplanned combustion or collapse.  The plant was sheared to the ground and processed for loadout to a nearby railway, where it was transported to a regional steel smelter.  This project showcases Northwest Demolition’s experience tackling highly technical projects while successfully managing and mitigating risk.
