Northwest Demolition was contracted for the demolition of a dilapidated mill structure located centrally within an active quarry. The structure consisted of a series of siloes, hoppers, cone crushers, and conveyors, and stood nearly 120 feet above grade. NWDD mobilized a specialized high reach excavator and constructed a specially designed earthen berm to safely demolish the structure located a mere six feet from the electrical substation powering the entire quarry. Due to the timeline of an incoming barge operation, NWDD compressed its working schedule to 17 straight days to meet the client’s needs for a hard completion. The work was completed without safety incident and without impact to the quarry’s continued operation.
