Northwest Demolition was contracted to demolish an abandoned elementary school in Prince Rupert, BC.  The project involved significant asbestos abatement prior to structural demolition.  Heavy winter conditions throughout the duration of the project made working conditions additionally challenging for both ground crews and the equipment.  Due to the proximity of the site to an adjacent residential neighborhood, public safety was of paramount importance.  Extensive perimeter fencing was constructed and maintained, and morning inspections of structures were conducted to ensure the site was vacant.  The project was completed on schedule and budget, with no safety incidents.
