This project involved the demolition of Building 6, located at the former Hardesty Federal Complex in Kansas City, Missouri.  The demolition and removal of Building 6 was performed as a non-removal preparatory construction activity in support of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) authority for GSA.  Northwest Demolition was contracted under our sister company (RSI), who managed the full scope of work, including abatement of asbestos containing materials, universal waste, demolition, and final site improvements.

Building 6 was a 2-story, heavy steel and concrete structure built during the 1940’s.  The heavy steel and concrete structure was removed to the top of an elevated slab.   Deep utility vaults and an elevator pit were backfilled and sealed.  Future work will consist of concrete slab removal and soil remediation.

Over 1 million pounds of scrap metal was removed from the site and recycled. This project demonstrates Northwest Demolition’s technical versatility with highly skilled operators and specialized equipment capabilities.
