Nuclear Decommissioning
In 2008, Northwest Demolition was selected to demolish the Trojan Nuclear Plant Containment Building, the largest structure of its type demolished in the U.S. Using a custom engineered method the structure was demolished in a choreographed sequence, while constantly providing seismic monitoring to ensure the safety of the stored nuclear fuel located several hundred feet away. Our radiological resume includes:
- Reactor containment building demolition
- Spent fuel pool liner removal method analysis consulting
- Plutonium waste landfill cap repair
- Implosion of radiologically impacted building at Hanford Nuclear reservation
